US China Business Association (USCN) and Your Privacy
Thank you for visiting the US China Business Association's web site at us-cn.org, maintained and presented to you by the staff of the US China Business Association (USCN). Our site adheres to the highest of Internet standards, observing and championing Net etiquette, and aim for factual information throughout. We know how important privacy is to you. Whether you are a current USCN Member or just visiting our Web site, we are committed to protecting the information you provide online in the same manner that we protect it when you provide it to us over the phone, in person or through the mail. Because we value your relationship with us, we have detailed below our privacy objectives for our Web site:
Privacy Statement
Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, we make no other attempts to identify individual users or their usage habits. We only use raw monitoring data logs for determining trends in usage patterns and in diagnosing system problems. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer our Web site. We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movement, and gather broad information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. If you use this system, you should understand that all activities may be monitored and recorded. Anyone using this system expressly consents to such monitoring. WARNING -- If such monitoring reveals possible evidence or information of criminal or suspicious activity, monitoring records may be provided to law enforcement officials.
Our site's forms may require users to give us contact information (like their name and e-mail address) and demographic information (like their zip code, state and country). The customer's contact information is used to contact the visitor when necessary. This information is not shared with other companies who may want to contact our visitors. The demographic and profile data collected at our site is also used to tailor the visitor's experience at our site, showing them content that we think they might be interested in, and displaying the content according to their preferences. Personal info provided by users will be used by the USCN to improve the site and provide a more personalized experience for the user, but information which identifies a specific individual will not be disclosed to others without the user’s permission unless necessary to provide services which the user has requested.
We will share aggregate information with our partners and advertisers. This aggregate information does not contain personally identifiable information and therefore cannot identify any specific individual. We use an outside credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes. We partner with other parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Our marketing information is protected to ensure the privacy of our members by not selling lists. Whenever a vendor wants to promote their services to our members first we approve the promotion and second we receive the promotion from the vendor and conduct the distribution ourselves.
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. All of our users' information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g., our Finance department) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The servers used to store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. We always use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving consumer data exchanged with our site. When we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information we redirect visitors to a secure server. We have appropriate security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.
Please use your own best judgment when sending information via the Internet to an e-mail address. E-mail sent via the Internet may pass through private and public networks with varying levels of security. Some networks may have taken steps to secure e-mail transmissions while others have not, thereby compromising the privacy and integrity of an e-mail. An e-mail may be copied, altered or destroyed.
If you have personal or confidential information to relay to our company, please call the appropriate member service phone number that you will find in our Contact Us section.
We preserve the content of your e-mail, your e-mail address and our response so that we can efficiently respond to questions you might have. We also do this in an effort to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
We will respect your request not to be contacted by e-mail.
It is optional for a user to complete a membership or registration form online. If a user chooses to complete one, a user is required to give certain information (such as name and e-mail address). This information is used to contact the user about the services on our site for which they have expressed interest or deliver content that they have requested. If a user wishes to subscribe to our e-mail newsletter, we ask for e-mail contact information to deliver USCN newsletter content.
